A 21-year-old woman from Punjab, Muskan, has been deported from the US, leaving her family confused and worried about her future. The Jagraon-based family, who took loans to fund her education abroad, is now concerned about the possibility of a travel ban that could affect her dreams of studying overseas.

Deportation Sparks Confusion

Muskan, a resident of Ludhiana, returned to India on Wednesday after being deported from the US. Her family claims a lack of understanding of US immigration rules led to the unfortunate event.

The family had sent her to the UK on a study visa in May 2024 after she successfully cleared the IELTS exam. However, earlier this year, on January 1, Muskan informed her family that she was relocating to the US. Despite this, the family remains uncertain about the reasons behind her deportation.

Family Relocates Amid Uncertainty

Muskan’s father, a shop owner in Jagraon, had borrowed money to fund her education. Following her deportation, the family has chosen to stay out of the spotlight by moving to an undisclosed location and locking up their home.

Although the family has refrained from making public statements, sources reveal they are deeply troubled by the incident. They fear the deportation could lead to a long-term travel ban, further complicating Muskan’s plans for a better future.

Authorities Struggle to Trace Family

Initial confusion arose when the police attempted to locate the deportee’s home. At first, they searched for her family in Thakkar village of Ludhiana, only to later discover they were from the Thakkarwal area in Hoshiarpur.

Avtar Singh, SHO of Ludhiana Sadar police station, clarified that the family had moved, making it difficult to reach them for comments.

Key Highlights

  • Muskan went to the UK on a study visa in 2024.
  • She relocated to the US on January 1, 2025, but was deported within a month.
  • The family had borrowed money to send her abroad and now fears a travel ban.
  • Authorities initially faced confusion about the family’s exact location.
