Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Bittu, announced that a new Vande Bharat sleeper train will run between Delhi and Amritsar starting next winter. This service will offer passengers faster and more comfortable travel across Punjab.
Route and Key Stops
The train will stop at major cities, including Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar, improving travel options for commuters. Land near Ladhowal, Ludhiana, has been allocated for a locomotive maintenance shed, which is required for terminal operations.
New Road Overbridge to Reduce Traffic
During a visit to Doraha, Bittu laid the foundation stone for a long-pending Road Overbridge (ROB) connecting Doraha with Neelon. This overbridge will ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and improve connectivity between rail and road networks.
Local and railway officials attended the ceremony. The overbridge will replace Level Crossing No. 164-AB near Doraha railway station, ensuring smoother vehicle movement and shorter wait times for commuters.
Benefits for the Region
The new Vande Bharat sleeper train and infrastructure upgrades will boost travel efficiency and strengthen connectivity across Punjab and Northern India. The project demonstrates the government’s focus on modernizing railways and improving passenger experience.
