The Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat was evacuated on Thursday morning following a bomb threat received via email, prompting heightened security measures at the administrative complex.

Threat Received via Email

The threat was reportedly sent from the email ID of “Michael Gill” early Thursday. According to official sources, the email contained warnings of a possible explosion at the secretariat and also targeted Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, with claims of affiliation to Khalistani supporters and warnings against police encounters.

Immediate Security Response

Following the alert, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which normally guards the building, coordinated with Chandigarh Police, the bomb squad, and the fire brigade to ensure safety. Both Punjab Police and Haryana Police also joined the operation.

Employees who had already entered the building by 9 am were evacuated by 10 am, and the premises are undergoing a thorough search to ensure security.

The secretariat remains on high alert, and authorities are taking all necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incident.
