Gandhi Describes Modi’s Statement as “Psychological Collapse”

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim of speaking to God, interpreting it as a sign of “psychological collapse” and a loss of confidence. Speaking at Georgetown University during his visit to the U.S., Gandhi recounted Modi’s assertion on the campaign trail that he was divinely chosen and influenced by God.

Gandhi’s Observations on Modi’s Confidence

“We knew when he claimed that ‘I speak directly to God,’ that we had shaken him to his core. It indicated a psychological unraveling,” Gandhi commented. He observed that Modi’s confidence appeared to deteriorate as the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign progressed, revealing that the Prime Minister struggled with unexpected challenges.

Criticism of the NDA Coalition and Election Fairness

Gandhi also criticized the ruling NDA coalition, stating it had fractured “right down the middle.” He questioned the fairness of the recent elections, alleging that the BJP had undermined Congress through actions like freezing its bank accounts, and accused the Election Commission of bias.

“I don’t view this as a free election. It seems heavily controlled,” Gandhi asserted, expressing doubts about the election results and suggesting that the BJP’s success was not indicative of a fair process.

Gandhi’s U.S. Visit and Engagements

During his U.S. visit, Gandhi interacted with the Indian diaspora and American lawmakers, addressing issues such as religious freedom in India. He plans to continue his meetings with U.S. officials in Washington DC.
