The Haryana Congress has released its detailed poll manifesto for the upcoming state assembly elections scheduled for October 5, 2024. Among its promises are significant measures aimed at supporting farmers and families of martyred soldiers.
Key Promises Made by Congress
- Farmers’ Welfare Commission: The establishment of a commission dedicated to farmers’ welfare.
- Compensation for Martyrs’ Families: A commitment to provide ₹2 crore to the families of martyred soldiers.
- Job Creation Initiatives: Plans to promote labor-intensive units to generate employment opportunities.
- Reconstitution of the Haryana Minority Commission: An initiative to re-establish this commission to address minority issues effectively.
In addition to these new promises, the Congress has reiterated its seven key guarantees, which include:
- Legal assurance for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
- Conducting a caste survey.
- Providing gas cylinders at ₹500 each.
- Monthly financial support of ₹2,000 for every woman aged 18-60.
- A monthly pension of ₹6,000 for the elderly, disabled, and widows.
- Creation of 200,000 permanent government jobs.
- Offering 300 units of free electricity and medical treatment up to ₹25 lakh.
During the announcement, Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan, along with Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, emphasized that the manifesto was developed after consultations with various sections of society.
Gehlot stated, “The Congress has the credibility that whatever it promises, it fulfills.” The party aims to gain the trust of the electorate with these commitments as it prepares for the forthcoming elections.
