In recent days, Indian authorities have arrested at least 11 individuals suspected of spying for Pakistan. These arrests include two people taken into custody between Sunday and Monday alone. The suspects were caught in different states, including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Two Arrests Made in Punjab for Leaking Military Secrets

The Punjab Police announced the arrest of two men accused of sharing sensitive military information with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.

• Names and Charges:
  The suspects, Sukhpreet Singh and Karanbir Singh, were arrested by the Gurdaspur Police based on credible intelligence.
• Information Leaked:
  They reportedly shared classified details about Operation Sindoor, including troop movements and strategic locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
• Evidence Collected:
  Forensic checks of their phones confirmed the espionage. Police seized 3 mobile phones and 8 live cartridges (.30 bore) from them.
• Official Action:
  A case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act at the Dorangala police station in Gurdaspur.
• Statements by Officials:
  Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav and DIG Border Range Satinder Singh confirmed the arrests. Singh said the two men were in contact with ISI and had received ₹1 lakh transferred to their accounts after becoming active post the Pahalgam terror attack. Both suspects are aged 19-20 and reside in Gurdaspur.

Uttar Pradesh Man Arrested for Espionage and Smuggling

On Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested a man named Shahzad in Rampur, suspected to be an ISI agent.

  Shahzad is accused of espionage and cross-border smuggling.
• Smuggling Details:
  He allegedly smuggled cosmetics, clothes, spices, and other goods to Pakistan.
• Background:
  Shahzad has reportedly traveled to Pakistan multiple times over the years.
• Legal Action:
  The STF arrested him under relevant laws related to espionage and national security.

The recent wave of arrests comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
